Fully funded master’s in Taiwan

Taiwan funds master’s through the MOE Taiwan Scholarship (a tuition cap plus a monthly stipend) and — more reliably for Bangladeshis — each top university’s own international-student award (NTU, NYCU, NTUST, NCCU). Note that Taiwan ICDF does not cover Bangladesh, and the MOE award for Bangladeshis is processed via Taiwan’s office in New Delhi, so confirm your channel first.

What the funding covers
  • Full scholarship: tuition waiver (excluding credit fees) plus a living allowance of NTD 150,000 per academic year (paid as NTD 10,000/month) plus reimbursement of roundtrip air tickets to Taiwan up to NTD 30,000 per academic year
  • Half scholarship: tuition waiver only (excluding credit fees)
⚠ Must know before you apply
  • Bangladesh eligibility: open to newly admitted international students with no nationality restriction listed — a Bangladeshi national admitted to an NCCU master's program is eligible.
  • The full-scholarship tier is genuinely generous for the living side: tuition waiver + NTD 150,000/year (NTD 10,000/month) + up to NTD 30,000/year reimbursed airfare — but the tuition waiver EXCLUDES credit fees, which the student still pays.
  • No individual application: colleges/departments nominate recipients from the admitted pool, so admission strength and program fit drive selection. You cannot apply directly.
  • Only newly admitted international students WITHOUT any other scholarship are eligible — you cannot stack it with another award.
  • Master's duration is 2 years. NCCU offers English-taught master's programs (e.g. in Asia-Pacific studies, communication, economics, international affairs, business) suited to non-Chinese-speaking applicants — confirm your target program is English-taught.
  • NCCU separately runs an Elite Scholarship for current lecturers from Southeast/South Asia/Africa (requires a formal lecturer position) — that is a different, employment-gated scheme and not the route for a typical master's applicant.
Documents required
  1. No individual student application: each college runs its own internal selection and nominates recipients from the newly admitted international students
  2. Standard NCCU graduate admission documents (bachelor's degree certificate and transcripts, study plan, recommendation letters, language proficiency proof) submitted with the degree-program admission application

  • Tier 2: Basic tuition-fee waiver only (excluding credit fees and enrollment fees), no monthly stipend
⚠ Must know before you apply
  • Bangladesh eligibility: open to international students with no country-specific restriction listed — a Bangladeshi national admitted to an NCKU master's program is eligible. (Applicants with an employment status / work visa on their ARC are not eligible.)
  • Coverage waives the BASIC tuition fee only — credit fees and enrollment fees are NOT waived and remain the student's responsibility — plus, in the top tier, a NTD 10,000/month stipend. This is partial funding, not an uncapped full ride.
  • Supervisor dependence: a thesis/dissertation advisor must be secured before enrolment, or by the second semester, to keep eligibility — a real gate for research master's applicants.
  • Cannot be held together with scholarships or grants for international students offered by Taiwanese government agencies (e.g. MOE/MOFA Taiwan Scholarship).
  • Selection includes a video interview during the departmental evaluation; deferring admission disqualifies the award (re-reviewed on return).
  • No separate application — strength of admission drives the award; new NCKU scholarship implementation guidelines take effect for 2026-2027 entrants.
Documents required
  1. No separate scholarship application: candidates are evaluated automatically from the NCKU international degree-program admission application and notified with the admission letter

What the funding covers

  • Monthly stipend of NTD 5,000 for master's-degree recipients
⚠ Must know before you apply
  • Bangladesh eligibility: applicants (and their parents) must hold foreign nationality and have never held Taiwan nationality; no country exclusion is listed, so a Bangladeshi national is eligible.
  • Funding profile: tuition AND credit fees are waived, but the master's monthly stipend is only NTD 5,000 — low for living costs in Taiwan. This award is strongest as a tuition/fee waiver; it is not a generous living wage on its own.
  • Apply at admission: tick the scholarship option inside the international-degree online application — it is not awarded fully automatically and is not a separate post-enrolment form for new students.
  • Maximum master's duration is up to 2 years (subject to renewal review).
  • College of Semiconductor Technology and the Taipei School of Economics and Political Science follow separate rules per the spring-intake notice — confirm if your target program sits in those units.

What the funding covers
  • Monthly stipend of NTD 25,000 for the recipient
  • Awarded to outstanding incoming international graduate (master's/PhD) students at NTU
⚠ Must know before you apply
  • Bangladesh eligibility: NTU's international-student scholarships, including the Taiwan Elite Scholarship, are open to international students generally with no nationality restriction listed; a Bangladeshi national admitted to an NTU master's program is eligible.
  • This is a stipend-focused award (NTD 25,000/month) and the NTU page does not list a tuition waiver attached to the Taiwan Elite Scholarship itself; budget tuition separately or compare against NTU's MOFA Taiwan Scholarship (NTD 33,000/month + reduced tuition) and MOE Taiwan Scholarship (NTD 20,000/month + tuition subsidy) listed on the same page.
  • No separate application — selection happens from the admission pool, so the real lever is securing strong NTU graduate admission.
  • Maintenance: recipients must keep a GPA of at least 3.38; the scholarship is lost on failing the GPA standard, taking a leave of absence, receiving an academic demerit, violating ROC law, or being expelled.
  • Many NTU graduate programs have English-taught tracks; confirm your specific department's language of instruction and any IELTS/TOEFL requirement on the program page.
Documents required
  1. No separate scholarship application: the award is granted automatically based on the international-degree admission application to NTU

⚠ Must know before you apply
  • Bangladesh eligibility: the award is for international students pursuing degrees with no nationality exclusion listed — a Bangladeshi national admitted to an NYCU master's program is eligible.
  • This is one of the more generous university awards: tuition waiver (or local-rate tuition) PLUS NTD 21,000–29,000/month, awarded for up to 2 years for master's. The exact stipend within that range depends on college/department/advisor matching funds.
  • Taiwan government (MOE/MOFA) scholarship holders are NOT eligible, except for specific NYCU-approved programs or after the original government funding expires — you generally cannot stack this with a Taiwan-government award.

  • Stipend paid from the month the recipient begins attending the university until the maximum scholarship period expires or the student graduates/withdraws
⚠ Must know before you apply
  • Bangladesh eligibility: the central MOE Taiwan Scholarship Program is for outstanding international/foreign students, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India is the ROC mission with formal jurisdiction over Bangladesh. Taiwan's Ministry of Education has publicly confirmed that recipients have included nationals 'from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka' (english.moe.gov.tw, MOE news). Bangladeshi applicants apply through TECC India in New Delhi (teccindia@gmail.com).
  • Important caveat: the regionally issued '2026 MOE Taiwan Scholarship Selection Guide - India' is worded for 'Indian citizens'. Bangladeshi applicants should confirm their channel and the documentary-evidence-of-nationality requirement directly with the TECC India Education Division before applying, since Taiwan has no mission inside Bangladesh.
  • This is NOT a guaranteed full ride on tuition: tuition support is CAPPED at NTD 40,000/semester. If the program's tuition exceeds that, the student pays the difference (unless the university grants a fee discount). 'Miscellaneous' here excludes administration fees, thesis-supervision fees, insurance premiums, accommodation and internet, which the student must pay.
  • Two-step process: you must SEPARATELY apply to a Taiwanese university for admission AND apply to the TECC for the scholarship. Each university sets its own admission deadline. A successful candidate who fails to secure (and submit) a university admission letter by 30 June loses the award.
  • Master's-degree award is capped at 2 years; the maximum total time anyone may hold a Taiwan Scholarship across degrees is 5 years.
  • You cannot hold this together with another scholarship/subsidy from a Taiwanese government body or education institution (apart from a university top-up covering tuition above the NTD 40,000 cap).
  • Selection includes a document review and a personal interview/videoconference. ROC nationals, overseas Chinese students, and APRC/PARC holders are ineligible.
Documents required
  1. Completed Taiwan Scholarship Application Form (submitted via the MOE online system at https://taiwanscholarship.moe.gov.tw/Apply/)
  2. Copy of passport or other documentary evidence of nationality
  3. Copy of the applicant's highest degree certificate and academic transcripts
  4. Documentary proof that the applicant has already applied for admission to a university/college in Taiwan (e.g. application-fee remittance receipt, completed application form, or an acknowledgement email from the university)
  5. Language proficiency certificate: TOCFL Level 3 or above for programs not taught entirely in English; OR, for fully English-taught programs, IELTS 6.0+ / TOEFL iBT 60+ / TOEFL pBT 550+ / an official transcript showing a minimum grade of 90/100 for a program taught in English (TOCFL not required if the university issues written proof the program is 100% English-taught)
